by Andrew Jameson 31 Jan 2012 08:33 GMT 29-30 May 2012

In May 2012, teams from the insurance industry will come together for the 14th staging of the Lutine Lineslip Regatta. More than twenty teams are expected to participate in the regatta.

Companies involved in the insurance industry, be they insurers, brokers, reinsurers or professional advisers, will find participation in the Lutine Lineslip Regatta a valuable way to raise its profile, network within the industry and entertain clients, potential clients and staff.

The Lutine Lineslip Regatta has been established since 1999 and is the most prestigious sailing and social event for the insurance community.

The Lutine Lineslip Regatta is a Lloyd's Yacht Club Event for the Insurance Industry. 2012 will see the 9th staging of the event under the new alliance between the Lloyd's Yacht Club and Britannia Corporate Events. As an exciting new development for 2012, the racing will be organised by the Royal Yacht Squadron and yachts will be berthed in the Royal Yacht Squadron marina.

The regatta is open to crews chartering a yacht and also to companies and individuals with their own yacht, who wish to participate as a private entry.

The charter division will race on single class of yacht, a fleet of Beneteau 40.7 racer/cruiser yachts with race sails and the option of spinnakers. Keen boat owners from the insurance and related industries are able to enter their own yachts to race in the handicapped division where current entries include an X-50, Sunfast 37, Bavaria Match 35, Swan 36 and the Lloyd's flag ship Lutine the Swan 53.

Liz Lotz, Towers Watson and the current first lady Commodore of Lloyd's Yacht Club commented "With such an amazing year for sailing events including the Olympics, Queens Jubilee River Thames pageant, Super Yacht Cup and Class J-Class regatta coming to UK waters, we wanted to re-engineer the Lutine Lineslip so that competitors can benefit from the best of international sailing organisation and with our new partnership with the Royal Yacht Squadron I feel that we are setting a new bench mark".
