2012 Sneak Preview: New Crewsaver Sabre Curve Drysuit
by Oana Matty, Crewsaver 21 Dec 2011 06:10 GMT
After years of development working with leading dinghy racing crews, Crewsaver are delighted to present the Sabre Drysuit with a curved front zip.
This top end, protective garment is constructed using robust TX20K – three-layer, fully breathable fabric that offers outstanding performance and longevity. It has also been cleverly designed to account for body bend, which means in a typical sailing position, the concealed, front entry zip sits snugly across the body rather than bulking out which is often the case with older designs.
The fabric used in this garment is of premium quality combining high strength with extreme flexibility. Three layers including a tough outer shell, a breathable middle layer, and inner lining means it has an ultra effective wicking system, and in water resistant tests it has a high water permeability value of 20,000/mm/H2O. As a guide, most mid range fabrics are likely to have values of 5,000 mm of water resistance, which means the Sabre is the ultimate choice for the active sailor.
As with all Crewsaver drysuits, the Sabre features easy-entry, glideskin neoprene neck and cuff seals, which are concealed and protected by fully adjustable openings for a close fit. The Sabre has a zipped neoprene lined storm collar for even more protection against the elements. The Latex socks are also well protected under a fully adjustable hem.
Reinforcement on the knee and seat gives extra protection in the high wear areas, and the simple to adjust, elasticated internal braces incorporate a handy pocket. An additional pocket with a storm flap closure and drainage gaps is positioned on the left thigh.
