“Using Zhik kit for the first time was a revelation! Two key things that made it stand out was the unbelievable freedom of movement when wearing the kit. I think this is a combination of excellent material choice with the design ‘cut’ clearly being done by someone who sails and understands where you need padding or limb freedom. Secondly, the combination of the package and being able to mix and match between the Hydrophobic Fleece or the Titanium top depending on temperature meant I always felt comfortable, even in a very changeable British summer!”
This was newly-crowned Fireball National Champion Chips Howarth’s verdict on his Zhik kit. Chips and his crew Richard Anderton finished strongly after a broken spinnaker pole setback mid-event to win the event by 1 point!
Elsewhere it has been a good couple of months for Zhik sailors! Chris Rashley won the Moth European Championships at Travamunde in June, and in the Topper World Championships Dan Venebles finished third overall after tasting victory at the Irish Nationals and Curits Mearns came a very credible eighth overall.
Zhik Flying Fifteen sailors Greg Wells and Mark Darling sailed well to come in fourth place at the recent Flying Fifteen World championships at Hayling Island, and Scottish Optimist sailor Jamie Calder came third at the UK Optimist Nationals and went on to score a third overall in the Optimist Belgian Championships.
More success followed at the recent Zhik sponsored 29er National Championships with James Bolingborke and Tim Walton taking third place overall. Vikki Payne and Stephanie Orton came in first Girls and finishing fourth overall.
Zhik would like to congratulate all our team sailors on exceptional performances in the UK this year.
