The Tempest National Championships were held over Bank Holiday weekend at Ullswater Yacht Club.

Winners, after three days of intensive racing, were club members Ian Modral and Robin Higgens.

With unseasonal weather and challenging sailing conditions, especial on the Sunday, the competitors sailed a series of races including a long distance island race on the Monday.

Before Monday's race, Ian, and his son Jonathan, also of UYC, were both in contention for the title. But by winning the island race, Ian and Robin made the champion slot.

Jonathan Modral-Gibbons, crewed by Colin Meadows was second and third was UYC member Mike Adams, of Carlisle crewed by his son Paul.
