Brewin Dolphins Chief Executive hails Scottish Series

by Lorraine Alonzi 13 Jun 2011 12:13 BST 27-30 May 2011

For the 37th year running, the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series, Scotland’s premier sailing regatta, has been hailed a success. Jamie Matheson, Chief Executive of Brewin Dolphin, the UK’s leading private client investment managers and event sponsors, would like to congratulate all organisers for hosting an exciting and challenging event despite the blustery weather.

The event, which took place over the May bank holiday weekend, saw over 100 boats, crews and visitors pay a visit to the quiet West Coast village of Tarbert. Hotels and guesthouses were fully booked months in advance, whilst local restaurants and bars were jam-packed throughout the weekend.

Jamie Matheson said, “Every year the Scottish Series provides a substantial boost to the local economy, and once again Brewin Dolphin was delighted to be a part of such a fantastic event.

“With the weather this year being so treacherous, it was a bit touch and go as to whether the organisers could offer sailing each day. However, they managed to pull it out of the bag by adapting courses to suit the conditions.

“The weather brought excitement and camaraderie to Tarbert’s waters while the local residents yet again made a huge effort to welcome crews and spectators alike. I would encourage anyone thinking about taking part in next year’s event to do so - it’s a fantastic weekend away for all of those who take part.”

The 2012 Scottish Series is due to take place 1 to 4 June. To find out more information visit www.brewindolphinscottishseries.com
