Portuguese 420 Championship at Tavira - Overall

Female team wins

After three days of racing, the national champions were awarded today in Tavira, in the end of the 2011 Portuguese 420 Championship.

The last day of racing was characterized by SSW winds varying in their intensity between 12 and 15 knots which allowed the execution of three excellent races.

The female crew of Patricia Costa and Inés Lucas, from Barreiro Sailing Club, secured first place in the rankings and ensured qualification for the European Championship taking place in Tavira.

In the second and third position are the sailors Ruben Semedo and Francisco Teixeira, also from the Barreiro Sailing Club and Tomás Camelo and Vasco Silva, from the Naval Association of Lisbon, respectively.

For the female team this is the “the achievement of a goal. During the three days we were able to take advantage of the good weather conditions and successfully complete the regatta. This was also a test for the European Championship that will be held here in Tavira, that will allows us to benefit from the knowledge of the racing field."
