Rock band legends Status Quo are performing in Cowes Yacht Haven for one night only on August 3rd 2011

For the first time in 20 years, rock legends Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt and their band Status Quo, comprising keyboard player Andrew Bown John 'Rhino' Edwards (bass) and Matt Letley (drums), will be performing on stage on the Isle of Wight at a very special one-night-only concert in Cowes Yacht Haven on Wednesday 3rd August.

Quo are appearing at the inaugural Rockin’ the Dock gig taking place on the stage in Cowes Yacht Haven. The band will perform a full 1.5 hrs set featuring a selection of their famous hits and new material from their latest album.

The evening’s line-up of entertainment will be compered and features a full support programme. Additional artists will be announced nearer the date.

Peter and Chris Troup, the promoters of Rockin' the Dock through their event management company Mousehound Events Ltd, are bringing this fabulous live music evening to Cowes as a pre-cursor to Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week that takes place from 6-13 August. According to Chris Troup, the Quo concert will help generate the necessary funds to enable Mousehound Events to provide a line up of high quality and, importantly, FREE entertainment to Cowes Week competitors and the local community.

Chris is excited to be providing this amazing opportunity for live music fans to see and listen to one of the world’s greatest rock bands in the relatively intimate setting of Cowes Yacht Haven.

“To be able to bring such an incredible line-up to Cowes is really positive and exciting, and especially so because in recent years we have needed to elevate the level and quality of entertainment in the Yacht Haven during Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week.

“To that end, the management team at Cowes Yacht Haven has been really supportive of us generating funds by utilising their infrastructure which is already in place for the regatta that starts just three days later."

A marketing campaign is being rolled out using local and regional print advertising, Facebook and other social media resources.

News of the Quo concert has already received a very positive reception from John Metcalfe, Deputy Director for Economy, Tourism and Leisure at the Isle of Wight Council, who expressed his delight, commenting, "Everyone knows about Status Quo and Cowes; so putting the two together is a fantastic idea. The event will be a great draw for locals and visitors and will give a great boost to the local economy. The Island is world renowned for the quality and range of its music events and this one adds to yet another exciting programme in 2011.”
