Tacktick’s award winning wireless electronics are debuting in this year’s famous Route du Rhum yacht race currently being battled out in the Atlantic.
Tacktick’s electronics are fitted to Pierre-Yves Guennec’s yacht Jeunes Dirigeants – Lorans and on Joris De Carlan’s GENERIK - EXP'HAIR en Beauté which were both racing in the Catégorie Rhum class. (Sadly Joris de Carlan has had to retire due to hull structural failures).
Pierre-Yves Guennec is using Tacktick’s sophisticated wireless wind sensor which has won numerous awards and offers a totally wireless solution to high quality wind data.
In addition Tacktick’s wireless, solar powered Maxi displays have been integrated into the onboard
electronics systems as well as a wireless interface to the autopilot. Tacktick’s multi-functional
range of Maxi electronics are ideal for these boats which require highly visible, accurate data in a
robust and waterproof display. The fact that both the displays and the wind transmitter are solar
powered is particularly useful on these offshore boats where power consumption is a constant issue.
From mid-Atlantic Pierre-Yves sent this comment to Tacktick, “Thank you to all the Tacktick team
for your support and constant encouragement, all your wireless instruments are working perfectly
despite the strong breezes we experienced last week!”
The sophisticated functions of the Maxi displays which include wind shift analysis, tidal set and drift functions as well as indicators for speed and acceleration will be essential for optimising the race performance of these yachts.
