Mike Stephens wins Porteous and Southcott Cups

The Porteus Cup and the Southcott Cup, part of the de May series for vintage Merlin Rockets, were won by Mike Stephens and Nicky Erskin-Tulloch sailing Flinkidink (1097) at Tamesis on Saturday 9 October.

The 18 competitors enjoyed a sunny day with a force 2-3 easterly wind. Race Officer James Fox sent them beyond Stevens Eyot part way to Kingston Bridge for the longer first race, with the two shorter courses after lunch in front of the Clubhouse. Visitors came from Hunts, Upper Thames, Hampton and Minima.

The de May series is reaching its climax with only Hampton’s meeting, on Saturday 16 October, to complete the series. Leading the way is Mike Stephens, closely followed by Ben Marshall of Minima YC and Nick Crickmore of Waveney and Oulton Broad YC.

Overall Results:

1st Flinkidink (1079) Mike Stephens & Nicky Erskin-Tulloch (Tamesis)
