Artemis finishes Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race in 6 days 10hrs 32mins 27sec and sets record

IMOCA 60 70 Artemis Ocean Racing crossed the Royal Yacht Squadron Line to set a new course record for an IMOCA 60* in the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race. Tired but elated Jonny Malbon commented; “We had a great trip round, this really is a world class racecourse, it is a shame that we were the only IMOCA 60. The Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland race would be an excellent build up to boats doing the Barcelona World Race. Anyway, we are delighted to have finished and we must now wait until the other boats behind us come in to see how we have faired on handicap. It has been a great race with good people on a fantastic boat.”

*Artemis Ocean Racing needed to finish by 01:30:53 on Monday 30 August, to beat the IMOCA 60 record set by Aviva in 2006 of 6 days, 11 hours, 30 min and 53 secs.
