Competitors were greeted with perfect sailing conditions for the penultimate day of Ramsgate Week; fabulous deep green sea, a blue sky and winds of 10 – 25 knots. The Cruisers Classes continued their series for the week with their fifth race. The IRC Classes competed in the second day of the IRC Regatta with two races which were mainly windward leeward courses.

Cruiser Class 7
Most boats in Cruiser Class 7 started from the Harbour end of the line, but with a busy start teo boats were recalled, but only Pacemaker responded. Scherzo, Lady Jane and Channel Pilot led the fleet to the North East Goodwin, but all three overstood the mark on the return to Broadstairs Knoll allowing the following group of yachts to close the gap. All boats hardened course inshore before tacking to East Brake, by which time Lady Jane had opened up a clear lead, and would not be caught. She crossed the line first, followed by Scherzo, Channel Pilot and Amilie. Channel Pilot were advised by the race officer that they were the second boat recalled at the start and thus disqualified. Josh Lidstone’s Lunar Sea won the race on corrected time, with Lady Jane second and Amelie third.
