After a disappointing start to the 2010 World Championships in Puck, Poland, the second and third days have seen significant improvements in the achievements of GBR teams. The event continues to be dominated by Krzysztof Malecki & Mikolaj Mickiewicz (POL 9734) with 21.7 points including four bullets and a third. Australians Anton & Julian Sasson (AUS 5509) and Ella Connor & Hannah Chadwick (AUS 9699) lie second and third with 31 points and 53 points respectively.

The GBR surge started with the first race on Monday. Abigail Croft & Alex Page (GBR 8363), who were the highest ranked GBR boat after the first day, took sixth place, with Katie Barr & Scarlett Anderson (GBR 8435) tenth. Katie & Scarlett did even better in the second race, taking fifth, with Henry Mills & Robert Keen (GBR 8845) one place behind.

Tuesday saw three races sailed. Katie & Scarlett took their improving streak to higher levels taking the runners-up spot in the first race. Henry & Robert were fifth, Abigail & Alex 15th and Max & Francesca Ingall (GBR 8855) 17th. The next race saw two British teams taking podium places, with Ben Binmore & Martha Jones (GBR 8440) second and Henry & Robert third. Katie & Scarlett were seventh and Max & Francesca 11th. The final race produced a 12th place for Ben & Martha and a 16th for Henry & Robert.

With three bullets apiece, Andrew Smith & Jack Collings (GBR 9243) hold a one point lead in the Promotional Regatta over Emil Sawicki & Jakub Niekowal (POL 9848). Agata Tomaszewska & Alicja Szczepariska (POL 9607) lie third.

A number of other GBR teams have achieved good finishes in the 70-strong fleet. Race 6 produced a GBR 1-2 with Alex & Lucy Corby (GBR 9000) taking the gun from Nicholas Sutton & Charlie Barr (GBR 8844). Nick & Charlie also scored a fifth in Race 5 in-between third-placed Caroline Croft & Jacob Payne (GBR 7274) and eighth-placed Amir & Aliya Jannaty (GBR 9319). Mary Henderson & Annie Sibthorp (GBR 8561) were third in Race 3 and fifth in Race 4. Jack Wilson & Max Crowe were third in Race 4.

With seven races completed in both the World Championships and Promotional Regatta, we have a scheduled lay day. It is raining heavily!
