Warsash Sailing Club was full to capacity on 14th May 2010 when the prizegiving for the Warsash Spring Series and Spring Championship took place. Chairman Peter Bateson thanked the 132 volunteers from the Club who had made sure everything ran smoothly and welcomed Sarah Treseder, recently appointed CEO of the RYA, to present the trophies.

As well as 58 prizes for individual classes, special awards were also made. The Commodore’s Cup is presented annually to the outstanding winner of an IRC class. This year it went to Derek Morland and Tim Rees on the quarter tonner Menace III with the perfect score of four first places in IRC 4. The Founder’s Salver is presented in memory of Tom Cozens, a co-founder of Warsash Sailing Club 53 years ago and at that time a very well-known face on the river as Hamble Harbourmaster. The trophy’s recipient this year was John Cooper, skipper of Oi! which won the J/80 class in both the Spring Series and Spring Championship.

The 28th edition of the Warsash Spring Series starts on 13th March 2011.
