Top photographer Richard Langdon teams up with Getty Images

by Karenza Morton 13 May 2010 13:54 BST

Leading British marine photographer Richard Langdon is delighted to have joined forces with Getty Images, the world’s premier provider of digital media, in an agreement that will guarantee a maximum worldwide audience for his images.

In the 22 years since establishing his Ocean Images photography brand, Richard has forged an enviable reputation as one of the World’s top sailing and yachting photographers.

He has covered three Olympic Games and countless World Championship events and high profile ocean races. His prestigious client list includes Skandia Team GBR - the British sailing team, the Dutch sailing team, Volvo sailing and Dubois Naval Architects amongst others. Richard also works with leading boat manufacturers in producing brochures as well as collaborating on features for top glossy sailing magazines.

With Getty Images’ unrivalled access to the world’s leading publishing outlets, whether magazines, newspapers or online, Richard’s photographs will be at the fingertips of some of the most influential and powerful editors in the global media.

Richard said: “No-one can compete with Getty when it comes to distribution. Their capacity to get images into the international daily newspapers and glossy magazines and on to the world’s most popular news and current affairs websites means we can concentrate on doing what we do best knowing Getty will take care of getting the images out there.

“Sailing and yachting photography can be spectacular and it is so exciting to now have this global platform for not only taking all elements of the sport to a wider, and perhaps new audience but also to secure maximal coverage for our clients and their commercial partners and sponsors.”

A lifelong sailor himself Richard, who is based in Poole in Dorset, is always pushing the boundaries to best capture the sport he loves and has pioneered a number of innovative sailing photography techniques including mast head shots and swimming by the mark, camera in hand.
