There is only one month to go before the annual 'Swamazons' weekend at Walton and Frinton Yacht Club, June 12-13th, the highlight being a race around the main island in Hamford Water. The event is run by the Old Gaffers Association but open to all dinghy classes.

So whilst the main body of the fleet are small gaff-rigged craft, you'll see modern dinghies amongst them. This is a popular event with families, juniors and old salts alike. The weekend is filled with other activities such as The Great Paper Boat Race.

Hamford Water was known as 'Secret Water' in Arthur Ransome's classic Swallows and Amazons series of books, and you can be sure plenty of fans will make the pilgrimage there next month.

See the East OGA website for further information on the race, and the rest of the weekend's activities.
