Traditional wooden Tideway dinghy at RYA Volvo Dinghy Show

by Danny Lindsey 15 Feb 2010 13:32 GMT 6-7 March 2010

The Tideway Owners Association (TOA) are pleased to announce that a new mahogany on oak Tideway Dinghy is in build and will be on display at this year’s RYA Volvo Dinghy Show. (6-7 March 2010).

Built by the Good Wood Boat Co using traditional methods and materials this will be the first wooden version of the boat to be built for ten years.

Following on from his success with his exhibit of the part built ‘REDWING’ dinghy at last year’s Dinghy Show, Stephen Beresford of the Good Wood Boat Co was granted the building rights for the dinghy and construction was started in September 2009.

After encountering Tideway dinghies on display at last year’s show he was impressed by the boats traditional qualities, the active owners association and the enthusiasm the owners had for their boats.

Stephen is proud that he is the only UK boat builder to source all his timber from Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified approved sources.

The new boat has already been bought by an existing Tideway owner and members of the TOA are very excited by the prospect of the new boat joining the fleet.
