With visitors from Ullswater YC in the north and Hornet SC and Weston SC in the south ‘The Last Blast’ once again lived up to its name with squalls and fresh SW winds on both Saturday and Sunday, making for some exciting racing.

Saturday saw 3-races held in conjunction with the club cruisers at times in some very heavy squalls. Despite some very close attention from one of the cruisers in the 2nd race our own Jim Hart & Andy Banks (GBR1121) led the fleet at the end of the day with 2 bullets and a 3rd place closely followed by Kim Dunstan & Phil Munton (GBR1077) also from CSC. Jim & Andy even managed to win race 2 after being caught OCS at the start and returning to re-start behind everybody.

Saturday was finished off in the evening by an excellent meal in the clubhouse, which was enjoyed by some very tired crews after 3 races in trying conditions.

Sunday saw the sun shining with winds gusting 28-30 Knots at times. Once again Carsington’s own sailors were battling it out at the front of the fleet only, this time Kim Dunstan was crewed by Katy Bower. Visitors Mike & Paul Adams, Nick Stewardson & Ray Stiles both from UYC together with Derek Budden & Andy Rumsey from Hornet SC providing the leaders with some stiff competition.

Overall Results:

1st GBR 1121, Jim Hart & Andy Banks (CSC) 6pts
2nd GBR 1077, Kim Dunstan, Phil Munton & Katy Bower (CSC) 8pts
3rd GBR 1181, Mike & Paul Adams (UYC) 11pts
4th GBR 910, Derek Budden & Andy Rumsey (Hornet SC) 12pts
