by David Elliott 21 Aug 2009 09:40 BST 22-28 August 2009

Cadet National and Open Championships sponsored by Zhik

The roads of North Wales will be a little more congested than usual today and tomorrow. 93 Cadets are travelling to Pwllheli for this year’s National and Open Championships sponsored by Zhik, which are taking place from 22nd to 28th August 2009. Ten races are scheduled over the week, with discards kicking-in with the fifth and tenth races. Included within the entries are two crews from Belgium, both of which have achieved podium places at European events this summer.

Event sponsors include sailing gear designers Zhik, who have generously provided a number of prizes and insurance brokers Noble Marine. Race sponsors include Premium Liferaft Services, Reponsebility, Ocean Health, Wetsuit Outlet and James Potter. Post-race activities include a “Pimms Party” sponsored by Embassy Machinery Limited.

The event is also the second of three indicators which will lead to the selection of the team to represent GBR at this year’s Cadet World Championships in Argentina from 26th December 2009 to 4th January 2010.
