Thirty-seven boats, in four classes, took part in this year’s successful event which included the Scottish & Northern Squib Championship.

Racing was mostly in the Broughty Ferry area with Monday afternoon’s race taking place between the Tay road and rail Bridges. Conditions varied throughout the week with the wind coming from all directions on the compass at some point.

Competition was close throughout the week in all classes with Flint 2, Shotgun 6 and Hummingbird contesting Division 1. Brief ‘N’Counter dominated Div. 2, with Fiddlers Three, close on his tail. Paul Francis discarded a second to take Restricted Sail from Kiri.

Three Squibs, Riverdance, Crystal Tips and Alkypops fought it out for their Championship with Riverdance taking the overall.

It was an early start for 17 boats on Thursday when they took part in the offshore Duke of Edinburgh Race to the Bell Rock. Race Officer, Ron Lorimer decided to send the boats via a mark off Arbroath before heading to the Bell Rock and then back to Broughty Ferry. Conditions were difficult due to squally conditions with a big sea running but all boats returned safely although a couple unfortunately sailed the wrong course.
