Sun, breeze and sailing, what more could you wish for!
The opening races of the Sharps Doom Bar sponsored Salcombe Yacht Club Merlin Rocket Week allowed Mike Calvert & Chris Downham to open their account with a win in the morning race (Red & Green flights) and William Warren with Chris Robinson to win the afternoon encounter (Black & Blue flights).
The conditions tested not only the sailing skills of the crews and also the strengths of their boat preparation; in the first race the fleet was almost at Blackstone on the first beat when the inevitable happened and the fleet had to duck as shards of carbon flew everywhere when Taxi's mast imploded!
With conditions possibly more testing for the afternoon race (and the first General Recall of the week!), the Yacht Club Terrace became the grandstand to watch the synchronized swimming displays with Andy Dalby & Andy Jones being jointly awarded a 10/10 for their efforts!
Time to rest the weary limbs for more of the same on Monday.
