RS Vision Open at Deben Yacht Club

The RS Vision is called a Family Cruiser Racer. Those who attended this weekend’s Open Meeting at the Deben Yacht Club found out that the family bit is important but it also helps if you’re called Dan.
First overall was East Coast Dan (Davies) crewed by his Dad & second was "Sarf" Coast Dan (Jaspers) crewed by his Mum. Third was East Coast Mark crewed by his wife Helen. All but East Coast Dan followed the script which said that we would each do our best to experience as many different placings as possible eg. 3rd, 4th & last (me) although he did retire from his 3rd win because his dad had wrestled the tiller off him! We were blessed with clear blue sky & fairly steady 10-15 knot wind. At least one of our number will have amazed themselves having hardly ever raced before & has only hoisted the Spinnaker once before in anger & did very well (not me).
It’s not for me really to comment on the running of the event as I was part of the organisation but I thought it pretty slick from start to finish (we welcome comments) - Many thanks to OODs, support boat crews and galley staff etc. Next year I would encourage travelling Visions to join in the club racing on Saturday (2 races held in clear blue skies & stronger winds this year) & we will need to engineer more time for Dan’s Tuning Clinic which was a bit rushed. We will try to Trump the Adnams Beer supplied through the Streakers.
