In April the Royal Southern Yacht Club held a Black Tie Gala Dinner at its Hamble Clubhouse in aid of the Help for Heroes Charity. Auctions and other fundraising on the night raised a total of £58,096.70.
This week Lt. Col. Simon Butt visited the Royal Southern Yacht Club to accept the money on behalf of Help for Heroes. Simon, who has served in Afghanistan and who spoke movingly at the Gala Dinner about the horrors of Helmand Province, said: “The Royal Southern has raised a tremendous amount from the Gala Dinner and, on behalf of Help for Heroes, I want to thank the Club and all those who contributed to help support our service men and women.”
