Catapult Open Meeting at Carsington Sailing Club

by Nigel Harrison 21 Sep 2008 22:38 BST 20-21 August 2007

The 20th of September - was the only weekend of the year with gorgeous sunshine and no wind! Paul Ellis ominously arrived with a hat with BOSS written on it. Fresh from winning the Catapult Europeans he proceeded to boss events in the light airs. Getting of to a winning start in the first race with Cliff Antill and Alistair Forrest fighting over second at different ends of the line. Winds dropped to a whisper and Paul again eased ahead again to win all three Races on Saturday.

Sunday - after a delayed le-mans start we scrambled to the line to catch the barest breath of wind for one last race. Alistair, Cliff and Nigel Harrison steal the line from the whole fleet with a risky Port start. Cliff then caught and overtook Alistair whilst Paul caught and overtook Nigel. Nigel then overtook Paul. At the line Cliff hit a hole 100 meters from the line and Alistair overtook to win. Nigel held Paul off to take third.

Overall results:

1st Paul Ellis (aka the The Boss)
2nd Alistair Forrest
3rd Cliff Antill
4th Nigel Harrison
