World Championships

Today was a lay day. Racing resumes tomorrow with Quentin Lauwers / Nele De Munck (BEL 8518) in first position, Joanna Freeman / Holly Francis (GBR 9575) in second and Tom Kennedy / Ellie Chesterman (AUS 9012) in third.

The Promotional Regatta continued, although still airs resulted in a postponement until after lunch and light, shifty winds influenced racing throughout the afternoon.

Promotional Regatta - Race 5

The first group away included four of the top six boats in the overall rankings. John Page / Alexander Page (GBR 8521), who had been lying fifth overnight, led from the second Windward to take the gun, followed by William Matthews / Sam Barr (GBR 8847). Amy Yeoman / Alice Alcock (GBR 9161) finished third and Alex Young / Jack Hardie (GBR 8513), who was placed mid-fleet at the first Windward, recovered strongly to take fourth place.

Arthur Henderson / Matthew Currell (GBR 8561) led the second group home, having dominated the race from the first Windward. Alec Bailey / Samantha Bailey (AUS 4887) tracked the leaders throughout the race to finish second, with third place taken by Zoe McBride / Rhos Hawes (GBR 8533).

Promotional Regatta - Race 6

Max Ingall / Francesca Ingall (GBR 8855) took the gun in the first group to record their first victory. In a very competitive and exciting race where the lead frequently changed hands, the British crew came from fifth place at the final mark to tack through the line ahead of Emily Kinver / Katie Kinver (GBR 8408) in second place and Gideon Hoogenraad / Ruben Hoogenraad (NED 7108) in third.

In the following group, John Page / Alexander Page (GBR 8521) again led from the first Windward for their second victory of the day. Alex Frost / Rory Sanderson (GBR 8402) were placed second, having held off the challenge of William Matthews / Sam Barr (GBR 8847), who finished third.

The overall positions after six races are 1st GBR 8513 (11pts), 2nd GBR 8521 (12), 3rd GBR 8420 (16), 4th GBR 9374 (18), 5th GBR 9161 (18) and 6th GBR 8561 (20).

The Promotional Regatta is now divided into Gold and Silver fleets for the last 6 races.
