Little Britain success goes a long way for charity

The organisers of the Little Britain Challenge Cup are to present the Jubilee Sailing Trust with a substantial donation at the Earls Court Boat Show that will help the charity to continue its’ life changing work. On hand to accept the cheque will be JST vice patron and Olympic gold medallist Sarah Webb MBE.

The Little Britain Challenge Cup, the property and construction industry regatta has raised over £130,000 for their chosen charities at their regatta in September 2006. The amount raised at this years event will be announced at the show.

The Little Britain Challenge Cup first held in 1988 is the biggest regatta in England after Skandia Cowes Week and is the biggest European industry event. Over three days of last year’s competition an incredible 3,000 sailors descended on Cowes in 240 yachts, competing in a total of 9 different classes.

The event is organised by a team of volunteers, the Little Britain Challenge Cup Committee who work in the property and construction industry.

LBCC Chairman, David Kong of Domus Facades said, “The Little Britain has donated nearly £1 million since its inception in 1988 and we are delighted to be able to continue supporting our event charities and helping contribute towards improving the lives of many young, disadvantaged and disabled people”.

Amanda Butcher the Chief Executive of the Jubilee Sailing Trust said, “The Little Britain Challenge Cup is one of countries most prestigious regattas and this is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the LBCC organisation Committee.”

“Every year the LBCC Committee succeeds in delivering an amazing sailing regatta and raising tens of thousands for charities like the Jubilee Sailing Trust. We are extremely grateful to everyone one who has been involved in with the LBCC and for all their support that they continue to give to the JST.”

The LBCC Committee will also present cheques to – Cirdan Sailing Trust, the Ellen MacArthur Trust and representatives of the Skandia Team GBR Paralympic Sailing Team.

The cheque presentation will be taking place at the Main Stage at the Earls Court Boat Show on Friday 30th November at 16.00hrs.
