Laser & Singlehanders at Notts County Sailing Club

The Laser and single handed Open at Notts County Sailing Club attracted a good turnout of visitors, with well over twenty in the Laser fleet and nine in the Single handed handicap. Willian Jeffcoate, the Race Officer set in interesting course including some enjoyable reaches in the afternoon winds, with conditions varying from a light breeze in the morning to a force 4 in the afternoon. For the first year the club had an on the water judge which was well received and proved to be a great aid to fair racing and good results.

Aidrian Sandlands from Doveestone won the event, with club mate Ian Lees second. Steven Lindley carried the flag for the home fleet, leading some races, he showed himself to be an outstanding junior and ready for adult level competition next season by beating many good sailors to get 4th prize. Tim Cripps of Hykeham was third and first master, and fleet captain Kathy Read first lady.

The single handed fleet saw Notts County sailor Mike Kerslake win in his International Moth with Mike Rhodes also of the home club second in a Contender.
