R19 National Championships at Poole Yacht Club

The R19 National Championships were sailed in Poole Harbour out of The Poole Yacht Club on Saturday 1st September. A series of five races over the course of the day were sailed with variable winds, F2-3 in the morning strengthining to F3-4 for the two afternoon races.

20 of these exciting one design boats took part and after the three morning races only 6 points seperated the first five boats. Rapid Reflex leading with 7 points over Rant n Rave with 8 points.

This set up the afternoon for an exciting finish with one race allowed as a discard. Rant n Rave helmed by Dave Hale managed to take the final honours just beating Mark Taylor on Rapid Reflex into secord place by one point.

All the boats throughly enjoyed the day celebrated by a night out for many of the fleet on Poole Quay.

The fleet of 30 One design R19 boats is based at Poole yacht Club. The boats are raced with a helm and two crew with racing taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays throught the Summer.
