Locks Sailing Club Celebrates
Locks Sailing Club based in Milton celebrated the gift to the club of 3 new training boats. The new boats were raced during the junior regatta on the 22 May, during this event one of the boats was named after a deceased member Terry McDonald who had contributed a great deal to the club including support for junior training.
The regatta started with three closely competed races, followed by an interval for the all important munchies and finished with a fun event, the prize going to the pair who collected the greatest number of plastic floats from the water under attack from water balloons !
There is a long history of junior training at Locks and this has been recognised by the award to the club of Volvo championship status by the Royal Yachting Association, the new boats will help to continue this commitment to the younger club members.
The boats were presented to Locks by the British Marine Federation and the John Merricks Trust specifically to support junior training. More information about the club and its activities can be found on the web at www.lockssc.co.uk
