505 European Championships at Sopot, Poland - Day 2

by 505 Class Association 30 Aug 2007 07:31 BST 28 August - 1 September 2007

Change in conditions brings change at the top

Wednesday saw lighter conditions than Tuesday at around 13 knots and in some nice sunshine, three races were sailed.

Winners of race one Ian Pinnell & Carl Gibbon, had a disastrous day by their standards, and have dropped out of the running for now, leaving it to the Danish crew of Jorgen and Jacob Bojsen-Moller and the two German crews of Wolfgang Hunger/Holger Jess and Boris Herrmann/Julien Kleiner to battle for the lead.

The Bojsen-Moller's experience paid off as they posted 1st, 6th and 2nd on the day to take the overall lead, this was a couple of points better than Hunger/Jess with 6th, 1st and 4th, but, by a point, the day belonged to Herrmann/Kleiner with 4th, 3rd and 1st. This was good enough to lift them into third place overall, just two points behind the leaders.

Everything to play for going into day 3, with two races scheduled.
