Mudeford Week at Mudeford Sailing Club - Day 4

28 July - 3 August 2007
After a longish wait for the wind to settle down, the fast fleet must have been impatient to get going and had a couple of general recalls before Mike Stagg (Mudeford, Laser) got clean wind and a great start to reach the top mark a whisker behind the Megabyte of Stephen Waite (Highcliffe). After a lap he moved into the lead and was never challenged. Dan Sowden, leading youth sailor was well up the fleet and added a 6th to his 8th of the day before. Brother Jim was 8th, and fortunately for family harmony, dad Phil got 2nd place. Racing was very close in a pleasant F2-3, with boats 2 to 6 ending up within 10 points on handicap – and 3 different boat types!
The Slow Fleet were much better mannered but were all taken by a flying Port start by Lynnette White (Zoom8). Yesterday’s winner Patrick Thompson lost out to his sister Ariella (Topper, 2nd place) with John Snelling and Evelyn Hurst (Otter) in 3rd. Charmaine Barnett (Highcliffe, Mirror) took first place.
