John Ellis makes a winning return to the International Canoe fleet © IC Class Association
John Ellis (Scaling Dam) has made a welcome return to the IC having plugged the front end of his Canoe; unfortunately he is still going as fast as ever!
The IC’s also raced with the new breed of boat being the DC, of which two turned out! This being Andrew Paterson (Gurnard SC) sailing a slightly revamped boat from last year and showing good speed throughout the weekend, and Alisdair Warren (Blakewex SC) just learning how to make his boat go!
Saturday saw a good level of constant wind speed, but a variation in wind direction! Top three places went to John E (1,1,2), Andrew P (3,2,1) & Mike Shreeve (2,3,3).
Sunday saw less wind at the start of the day, however this varied throughout the day both in strength and direction culminating in a squall just after the start of the final race which seemed to decimate all the Canoes, however all the IC’s and DC completed the course
A great week end made all the better by the helpful and efficient race officer and staff at Grafham Water.
Overall Results:
1st John Ellis, IC GBR292
2nd Andrew Paterson, DC GBR 305
3rd Mike Shreeve, IC GBR 233
