Adam McGovern and Chris Robinson won the Welsh GP14 Championship at Llandudno with three firsts and a second as discard. Conditions on the Saturday were stronger than forecast, with several crews deciding to inspect the bottom of their boats during the two races!

The event, sponsored by Speedsails and St David's College, Llandudno, was completed in lighter airs on the Sunday.

For the first time there was a junior championship. This was won by Ross Moreton and Tom Moore of Llandudno. Two thirteen year olds, Connor McNamara and Nathan Thorne, wisely retired in the strong winds of Saturday. They calculated their all up weight at thirteen stone.

The Llandudno Trophy, presented by Andy McNamara, for the first boat where helm and crew are resident in Wales, went to Paul and Tom Simes of Cardiff Bay.

Only 20 entries arrived for a superb weekend of very mixed sailing under the guidance of NRO Paul Moreton.
