As Pirates of the Caribbean 3 opens across the country today; the Southampton Boat Show is delighted to announce that HMS Bounty, one of the film’s featured ships, will be at the Southampton Boat Show for the duration this September.

Originally famous for appearing in the 1962 classic ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ starring Marlon Brando, and more recently playing a featured role in the Disney blockbuster ‘Pirates’ trilogy, HMS Bounty is making an appearance at the Southampton Boat Show before she sets off on an historic voyage to Tahiti and Pitcairn where her legend began.

Visitors to the Southampton Boat Show will be able to climb onboard this historic vessel and learn more about the most infamous mutiny of all time, which saw Fletcher Christian take control of HMS Bounty more than 200 years ago. There will be a self-tour, taking in the exhibition below decks on the mutiny and the building of the ship, and the crew will be on hand to answer any questions anyone may have.

On board, professional actors playing Captain Bligh and Fletcher Christian will offer 'street entertainment' style performances to entertain visitors. To celebrate HMS Bounty’s appearance in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 3' – released on 24th May – an actor playing Johnny Depp’s character Captain Jack Sparrow will stalk guests and stumble around the ship.

James Gower, an organiser of the Southampton Boat Show, comments: “We’re delighted that HMS Bounty, a ship of such historical importance as well as a famous movie star, is coming to the Southampton Boat Show. Such an attraction will generate mass appeal, and we’re expecting HMS Bounty to prove a real hit with all the visitors to the show.”

The Southampton Boat Show in Mayflower Park runs from 14 to 23 September. Kids aged 15 and under go free*, and tickets are on sale now from www.southamptonboatshow.com or by calling the ticket hot-line 0870 060 0246.
