Derbyshire Youth Sailing at Errwood Sailing Club

Errwood SC hosted Derbyshire Youth Sailing 5th race series event this year on Saturday 29th May. DYS this year organised pre-event race coaching by John Ironmonger. This went down very well with the sailors and I'm sure they all benefited from John's years of experience at the highest competetitive level.
This is the second year Errwood has hosted a DYS series event for under 18's and it was another resounding success. The weather was kind again - apart from some gusty spells in the first race which some of the younger sailors found rather too challenging.
As in the 2003, three handicap races were sailed. The racing was as close and exciting as last year - particularly for the Toppers.
Certificates and prizes were awarded for the top three senior sailors, the top three junior sailors, and the top 6 sailors overall. No-one went away empty handed as all competitors went away with a certificate - and a handful of chocolates!
Many thanks to all the Errwood and DYS members who helped to make the day such a success.
