Rudyard Lake Sailing Club Open Day

by Mark Sherwen 28 Apr 2004 08:01 BST 3rd May 2004

Rudyard Lake SC are holding an open day on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May from 11am to 4pm. Rudyard Lake is set in the picturesque Staffordshire Moorlands, midway between Leek, Congleton and Macclesfield. RLSC is a friendly family club catering for all ages and abilities. Racing takes place on Sundays from early March and continues until mid December. We also race on Wednesday evenings from April until September.

The club is an RYA recognised training centre and we provide RYA training courses to Dinghy Level 1 & 2 and Powerboat Level 2 & 3. The club encourages fleet racing and has established fleets for Enterprise, Solo and Laser Classes. There are also two mixed fleets of asymmetric and non-asymmetric boats which include a growing number of Laser 2000’s. The mixed fleet includes a number of classes the largest of which is the National 12’s. The club also owns several boats for use by members including Challengers and Access dinghies which are particularly suitable for people with a wide range of disabilities. Rescue boat cover is provided for club organised sailing but members can sail at any time at their own risk.

RLSC was founded in 1956, and has just completed a major redevelopment programme. The impressive new club house officially opened by the Princess Royal last June has disabled access to most areas, changing rooms with great showers, galley, licensed bar, and a friendly environment for all the family.

So if you are at a loose end on the Bank Holiday why not call and see us, you will be made welcome. For directions check out the website at www.rudyardlakesc.org.uk
