Dubarry Signs Deal with Volvo Ocean Race

by Lizzie Green 12 Apr 2000 14:06 BST

Footwear manufacturer, Dubarry of Ireland, appointed the official footwear supplier to the Volvo Ocean Race

Race organisers announced today that Dubarry of Ireland is to be the official footwear supplier to the Volvo Ocean Race. Speaking from Race Headquarters in Southampton, UK, Volvo Ocean Race Chief Executive Helge Alten said: "Dubarry marine footwear has long been considered the premier choice amongst international grand prix sailors, and we are proud to unite with this innovative company to offer specialist, quality designs in both sailing shoes and boots, all of which will carry the Volvo Ocean Race name."

Dubarry's Marketing Director, Michael Walsh commented: "It was indeed a source of major achievement for a company like Dubarry to secure this endorsement from Volvo. We have long been associated with all major events in the international sailing calendar and this official sponsorship title to the world's premier ocean race is the culmination of many years of hard work by everyone at Dubarry, in this small West of Ireland town of Ballinasloe".

Dubarry has been at the forefront of technical development in marine footwear for the past three decades. The range also features a strong casual range of styling for men and ladies with an emphasis on comfort features. The unique non-slip sole design, coupled with the Dubarry trademark, handmade roll top moccasin in performance leathers, is augmented by Gore-tex lining in selected styles to provide protection in the most extreme conditions. The Shamrock boot has long been the choice of crews in the world's leading events.
