The Dart 18 fleet is the largest one-design catamaran racing fleet in the world and this year the World Championships are being hosted by Stokes Bay Sailing Club in Gosport. Racing starts on Saturday 16th with 150 boats participating from 13 countries in 4 continents which will make the competition the only World Championship being held in the Solent this year – a sight not to be missed. Racing will take place to the west of Lee-on-the-Solent and will be visible from the coastline – easy viewing for spectators.
The British are not strangers to the winning podium at previous Dart 18 championships. The competition will be an open book to any competitor and with the current national champions, David & Sam Lloyd (Stokes Bay Sailing Club), hotting up the competition for the ultimate sailing title, the weeks racing is guaranteed to be serious.
David Lloyd said today “Every top sailor from the past ten years of Dart sailing will be here. This competition is guaranteed to find the champion of champions”.
