Cadet Worlds in Nieuwpoort, Belgium - Day 4

by Ian Videlo 7 Aug 2003 10:12 BST

Day 4 saw very light shifting winds and a mixed bag for the Team. In race 1 there was a huge wind shift which relegated some of the team from top ten positions but elevated the rest of the team.

The second race saw Jodie and Guy caught out by the Black Flag.

The day belonged to James Wade and Katie Barr again. They finished 10th in the first race and had a storming last beat in the second to come from mid teens to take the gun. This means overnight they are in second place overall, two points behind the Argentinian boat and five points clear of a Spanish boat. Jodie posted a 4th in the first race and Adam a 9th and 12th. The rest were affected by the conditions and most posted discard results. On a more positive note all the team are still in the top twenty places. With three races left it is going to be a real nail biter.

The promotional fleet continue to impress at the front with any one of four boats looking likely to win the event. For the first time after the racing Thomas Makey failed to lead the event, posting a 15th and a 4th he now lies second behind Jonathon Moss, who won the first race and was 3rd in the second. Andrew Twinn is now third having posted two second places and David Brewer is 4th , with a 3rd and a win in the last race. With only 8 points separating the four boats, racing will be nerve racking. These four are 30 points clear of the rest with British boats still holding the top 24 places.
