Team888 catch the wind and take off through the fleet
Only 36 hours after the start of the Daimler Chrysler North Atlantic Challenge (DCNAC), Team888 are starting to show their stuff.
After light winds gave the larger boats in the race’s second fleet a clear advantage, better wind directions have enabled Team888 to crack on over the last 12 hours, with boat speeds of up to 23 knots under a new assymmetric spinnaker.
This has taken them past Windrose, UCA and Nordbank – with the powerful Zephryus V, being the only one left in from their fleet starting on the 21st June - to catch!!
The team have managed to double their distance made good in the last 12 hr period, so let’s hope that current weather conditions prevail and they keep their edge.
700n miles remain between the team and the first waypoint.
