Paralympic Sailing

by Jessica Statham on 9 Oct 2000
When and Where? 20-27October 2000. Olympic Sailing Shore Base, Rushcutters Bay/Olympic Course Area B, Sydney Harbour.

The Sonar and the 2.4mR events will make up the Paralympic sailing competition. Both are open to female and male competitors.

Crews of three athletes will compete aboard the 23-ft keelboats in the Sonar event. The 2.4 mR is a single-handed keelboat. Neither of these boats are specially built for people with disabilities but with a couple of small alterations can be sailed by people with disabilities.

Sailing in the Paralympics is very similar to the Olympics with slight change of that assistance will be given for launching and getting aboard the boats.
