Mike Golding reports a rough night on board Team Group 4 last night.

by Susan Prseton Davis on 20 Feb 2001
Mike Golding reports a rough night on board Team Group 4 last night.
Golding was sailing in the centre of a depression with two reefs in the
main and a trinquette. This morning Team Group 4 was sailing at 12 knots
to the North East and has made good gains over the boats immediately
behind. Josh Hall, in 9th position, is now over 350 miles behind Golding
and Bernard Gallay in 10th position is over 380 miles behind - both
sailing at less that 2 knots today.

With just 1800 miles to go to the finish, Golding is looking forward to a
tasty Entrecote steak with pommes frites and vegetables - he has long
since eaten his favourite foods from his stores. The boats ahead of Team
Group 4 have only light winds and are finding it difficult to finish.
Unless the wind picks up later this week, Golding may have to wait a
little longer for his juicy steak!

A seriously breezy event amongst the beautiful Trossachs hills In the lead-up to this event in the HD Sails Scottish travellers series I was worried that sailing on an inland loch amongst the beautiful Trossachs hills in mid-summer meant that we would struggle with light and shifty winds from every direction.
