Mike Golding - Latest daily report

by Mike Golding on 16 Feb 2001
Mike Golding called his Shore Team today to confirm that Team Group 4 is
sailing in about 10 knots of breeze and that he has set his sights on the
trough of low pressure NW of the Azores. Golding hopes that within the
next 48 hours this will influence his speed and catapult Team Group 4
towards the finish line in Les Sables d'Olonnes.

Golding, who is running out of fuel and stores, is hand steering Team Group
4 a lot of the time, rather than use fuel to run the generator to charge
his batteries. With less than 2500 miles to go and with fellow Briton,
Josh Hall, hot on his heels, Golding needs to keep pushing hard for every
single knot of speed.
