41 entries for the Sunlover Holidays Sydney - Mooloolaba Yacht Race

Big fleet heading north to Mooloolaba
A fleet of 41 yachts will line up on April 15 for the start of the Sunlover Holidays Sydney - Mooloolaba Yacht Race, the final race of the CYCA's Bluewater
Pointscore and popular feeder event to the Brisbane - Gladstone Race.

'A rush of last minute entries took the total up over the predicted fleet size,' said a delighted CYCA Sailing Manager Phil Thompson today.

'The big boats feature strongly in the line-up with entries from Brindabella (George Snow), Marchioness (Marchioness syndicate), Wild Thing (Grant Wharington),
Infinity III (Martin James), Valtair (Matt Allen) and the Open 60 skippered by Sean Langman', Phil said.

'There is a good chance the course record of 44 hours 01 minutes 43 seconds set in 1994 by Brindabella will go, particularly if the Open 60 and the
water-ballasted maxi Wild Thing, fresh from her record breaking line honours win in the Adelaide - Port Lincoln Race, get reaching conditions.'

'It is also great to see the PHS fleet so strongly represented with at least half the skippers electing to race under this handicap system.'

Other entries include CYCA Rookie of the Year Neill Whiston and his Beneteau 40.7 Fruit Machine, veteran of 17 Sydney - Mooloolaba Races John Walker,
owner/skipper of Impeccable, Hugh Treharne's Peterson 51 Bright Morning Star and the winner of the storm-swept 1998 Telstra Sydney to Hobart Race, AFR
Midnight Rambler (Ed Psaltis/Bob Thomas).

Five Queensland yachts will make their way to Sydney for the 1.00pm harbour start including the Inglis 50 Nortruss G-Wizz (Phil Gray), Asylum (Wayne
Kirkpatrick), Great Escape (Duncan MacKeller), Special Effect (Ian Caroline) and Valhalla (Doug Middleton).

Entries for the Sunlover Holidays Sydney - Mooloolaba Yacht Race closed last Friday however the Race Committee may accept late entries, subject to a
written request for late acceptance and accompanied by the specified fee, up until 11 April.
