Yes, we have a fleet of Picos.... (see below) and tried it on two tyres we were going to throw. It err doesnt work. You cant get it all the way round and also the weight of the boat compresses the foam and it becomes harder to drag up a slope that a punctured tyre. |

We have Solid tyres at the centre. They cost a wee bob and yes are heavier but will hopefully last. They look like agricultural tyres!

not used expanding foam but I have used the 'tyreweld' stuff for two trolley wheels and two wheel barrow wheels with all going strong 6months later. At £9 or so a can it is not that cheap though.

Further to this thread.... Does anyone know how to get a tyre on and off the wheel? I've got a puncture that I would like to repair. Tried bicycle tyre levers, but they broke. Tried screwdrivers, but cannot get enough stretch in the tyre bead to get it off the wheel.Any other ideas?

I did mine recently and they didn't fight too hard BUT you must push the tyre's "bead" (the wire round the inside edge of the tyre) all the way down into the "valley" in the middle of the wheel rim all the way round first. If you just try and lift it straight over the edge it is is too tight.
This then gives you enough slack at one point around the circumfrence to get a lever in and to prize the tyre over the rim's wall. I hope that makes sense?

Yes eventually discovered that techique when I realised the valley was in the centre. Shame I had to break my bicycle repair kit, but trolley wheel back in action with no other expense!

+1 for Micheldever Tyres for any vehicle tyres - used to use them when I lived nearer as they were always cheaper than the quotes I could get elsewhere.
