True Cap'in Jack... I hope im not tempting fate, and as much as id like to hope accidents will never happen: they will at some point.
Im not disputing that at all though. What im disputing is the unprovoked and unfounded accusations that im going to get hurt through sheer stupidity.

It really is only a matter of time before...

You get a sudden wind shift when launching.
A muppet has one of the above and becomes engaged with your kite.
A line breaks and it's your re-ride.
The the bridle wears, snaps and the pulley block becomes disengaged.

All risks, sure... but how are they any more likely to hapen to me than anybody else on the beach? The one thing I can think of that will help in any of those situations is having the experiance to respond properly - Either getting the kite under control, throwing your safety (primary or secondary), or if your safety fails (if for some reason you are tangled in your lines) by reaching for the safety knife. That experiance doesnt come from an instructor: that comes from time on the water and common sense.

So every time you fly, you now thoroughly pre flight..
But then you do that every time already don't you?

Every time I run my lines out I keep an eye out for any wear and chaffing. I also like to take care of my kit so il give it a hose down and give the pulleys and bridle a good check over every couple of sessions whenever I can.

If youd like to tell me what im missing then id be happy to learn...

Dude you sail a silly boat with a heart shaped logo and think it's cool,
why else would i make that assumption.

You just stay cautious and dont get to cocky is all and like I said its not a
question of wether or not you get hurt, its just when and how and wether
you're lucky it's not serious. And TT is quite correct, that's me in the pic
two days after I got real cocky and thought I knew it all.

So take it as a jocular heads up. Bows may have made life appear easier
but they can still deliver the death blow from any number of quite
ludicrous occurences all whilst your fed the line they're 100% safe, they
aint.

The wing thing is lame and cumbersome if you want to try one I've got one
up at work.

When the weather is bad you should spend time re-inforcing those racks on
that washer womans boat, so you dont keep giving us a near heart attack
with laughter as you and dumberers feet fly into the air as you pile in.

Funniest thing I've seen in years, beats the time your tongue got stuck to the
ski lift.

Getting just a bit boring.

Mind you, if Grumpf ended up in hospital with 200 stitches as the result of a collision with a Cherub, I can understand his instinctive aversion. Anything with a heart-shaped ornament must make him twitch now. This is a man who suffers every year on Valentine's Day, so let's humour him.

Freindly_fire back me up here please

yeah to be fair there is more chance of you learning to windsurf when there is more breeze becaue you can always get a smaller sail. you can feel where the wind is comming from and you can lean against somethink that will hold your weight. there is nothing worse than windsurfing in no breeze. you spend to much effort concentrating on your balance where as if your moving everything goes stable.

ross here is a link. before you click it the board does need a clean but nothing a few hours work wont fix. its a great board to get going on. this is the type of board i learnt on. it is bic fittings well it should be and better yet it is £40 buy it now. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/windsurfing-board_W0QQitemZ25019547300 5QQihZ015QQcategoryZ117167QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewI tem
