friends re-united

   Ahhh all those newcomers... 
Once upon a time on the forum, there were fewer members posting less frequently than our current friends. In those days, there wasn't even a Banter section!   It was another era, another way of living. In this remote past, Haggis and Dr Clifford were dispending words of wisdom in an impeccable English and it would take months to become "Posting King"! 
As it is today, most members belonged more or less to the male gender, with the notable exception of Headfry   and Sailor girl. She and Brian (another lost soul) would have lengthy exchanges of non sailing-related messages, sometimes up to 5 posts long!!!   The Banter section was created especially for her and still thrives under her lasting influence.
When Sailor girl reached the coveted target of ONE HUNDRED posts, she was crowned with the title of Posting King. Naturally, she objected to this gender discrimination, but in vain. When I reached the same title, I claimed to be a Posting Monarch instead. (you can laugh, but it meant a lot in those days... a post required deep thought and frequent references to your favourite dictionary... it wasn't as cheap as it is today... we had shillings and farthings, ounces and furlongs, life was great and the sun was warmer... ooops... time for my pills...)
Anyway, Sailor Girl collected 3, then 4 stars as she added steadily to the infinite pool of knowledge which is the forum (yeah yeah, some were "lol", " ", "haha" but a girl's got to relax after a hard day's work). When she passed 500 posts, she was given 5 stars, which was previously for Admin members only, and the new, everlasting title of "Really should get out more". She is our true Queen and should be respected as such.

	Indeed I too remember the days when the 'Banter' section appeared with the subtitle (Brian and Sailor Girl take note). So long lerking and not posting. The time I wasted...........Since I have joined in Cannot Spell! Edited by Contender 541

	Nothing has changed really - still the colour scheme, same smileys, same arguments, same jokes, just flashier avatars and signatures...of course in the old days there were those who didn't know what an avatar was but now...

	wow! i didnt realise sailor girl was such a pioneer of forum life lol! quite interesting actually to look back at posts of like a year ago, so many people have come and gone! All way before my forum "birth" lol!
