Another call to the RAC; different person and a different answer ... and trailers will be recovered with no additional memberships required ... poor staff training ...

Yep, the length limit is car and trailer unless you are a member of the caravan and camping club at which point they upgrade you to arrival membership which does not have this limit. 

RAC limit is 6.4 metres for each vehicle, car and trailer. If your 'caravan' is over 7 metres they offer additional cover for it.
