Lottery is not just another tax. Voluntary versus compulsory. I've never played the lottery and never will. Tax on the other hand. I pay income tax, corporation tax, value added tax, fuel tax, council tax..........

It's indeed a voluntary tax for the lower echelons of society.  

I also pay those taxes you cite- out of equal obligation to your good self.  

Somewhere further up the food chain it seems they also become somewhat voluntary too....

Maybe make all tax a bit more like the lottery - a free premium bond or lotto ticket with every hundred quid tax paid. :-)

By not unreasonable value, I meant the the money they spend for what they actually do. Whether what they do has value is another question  Wink
