Do they have a NZ nationals now? I though the Int. Moths had died there once again?

If we're being pedantic, was it 8 boats from NZL, or 8 boats owned by NZ nationals who are currently domiciled elsewhere? Probably somewhere between the two I expect. |

As I work for the IRD in New Zealand I am able to confirm the individual domicile status of all of the NZ entries for the 2015 Int Moth Worlds in Sorrento Vic On this, a very public, forum I feel it appropriate to confirm that only 4 of those entered are domicile in the land of the long white cloud and of those 1 is entitled to free medical insurance As I am also the CEO of yachting New Zealand I can confirm that even though there are 3 other moth sailors in NZ along with these four individuals they do not meet Yachting NZ's requirements to hold a national title. Consequently there are no nationals in NZ. |

I wasn't being pedantic in asking whether the NZ had a Moth nationals - I was interested in whether the spurt of interest a few years back had subsided again.
It does say a lot about the sport, its current course and its future that one of the world's top sailing nations has only seven active Int. Moth sailors. Obviously such boats, wonderful as they are, cannot be the future of the sport as so many in administration and the sailing media are claiming - unless, of course, the sport has no future. Thanks for the information.

D'oh! Where's the embarrassed moji? In my defence, we have had NZ Yachting honchos here lately.
Actually from the web it looks as if half of the NZ Mothies are AC sailors who would spend most of their time offshore. I saw another pile of carp from our once-great Australian Sailing mag today, claiming as usual that foilers were the future and multis were growing. When I read that stuff I reach for my revolver.

Chris,
Multis are growing: longer, wider, taller (once up on foils). Just not numerically...
