HI Wavey or Dave. who knows!  LOL

thanks for the kind offer but we have now ruled Gresford out. It looked a really nice water to sail on but that visit nearly put my wife off as she has only done a small bit of sailing. All that shouting and being 'unforgiving' on such a small piece of water...... tbh I did point out to her that the rest of you guys and gals looks like you where having fun.
The boat in question was an Enterprise.

We had another visit to Shropshire, lovely water, and are currently saving/fund raising for a new club house and I'd imagine when its done it will be the club to sail at, so once the children have finished their current weekend swimming lessons we'll be joining there

I will agree with JohnJack, out of all the clubs we visited, I think Shotwick and Chester where the ones with the most amount out actually sailing.

Thanks to everyone that has posted a reply, I thought that you guys in the area would be able to point us in the right direction

Dave

Bala has changed beyond recognition over the last few years, when i went there in about 2006 i thought they were quite unfriendly and diet appear to want the 50 odd boats we bought there.

Having been back a couple of times in the last year or two, they have really turned it around. It can be pretty ferocious in a strong SW but its a great place to sail.

Hi davejones

I was a member of Gresford up until last year, when I left.

I have been a member since 1989, and my parents since they early 80's.

Unfortunately, a few people have forgotten that a few hours racing around the cans on a tiny lake should be fun, and get far too carried away.

I can only imagine what you saw on your visit, but I would urge you to take Wavey up on his offer to pop down and have a sail. It is a great lake for your children to sail on and you ;-)

but I know how you feel as on my last visit I saw more shouting from one boat than at the team racing champs at West Kirby!!!!!!

Dave i too live in Oswestry and i drive to bala. All be it is the catamaran club which is slightly further than the sailing club but it is worth a drive. I know I sail catamaran which means i should not be in this part of the forum but of all the places i have sailed if the weather is right i would not want to sail anywhere else. The key is getting the weather right. If you are in oswestry and want a chat then let me know.

Davejones

I re-joined gresford today as a friend needed a crew and I was short on of something to do!

I have had a lovely sail racing against wavey and others and the people sailing where having a good sail with tricky conditions

Gresford really is a great club and I urge you to pop down and have a sail

Thanks
Gareth
